Our Boat Rentals are allowed in the Gulf of Mexico, so you can cruise to Siesta Key Beach, Lido Beach , Longboat Key, Bradenton Beach and even Venice and Englewood. Explore some of the islands and sandbars in the Intracoastal Waterway or just cruise by all the celebrities’ homes on your way to a local watering hole.

If you prefer not to drive the boat yourself, but want the freedom of having your own boat, then give us a little notice and we can arrange for one of our USCG licensed captains to take you on the trip of your choice. This allows everyone to cut loose and not worry about running aground or figuring out where the best swimming holes are.

  • Must have valid boating license if born in/after 1988!

Yes. Siesta Key Watersports offers 12-passenger Hurricane FunDeck boat rentals, allowing guests to explore Sarasota Bay, local sandbars, waterfront restaurants, Siesta Key Beach, Lido Key, Longboat Key, Venice, and more. If you’d rather relax and leave the navigation to someone else, private boat charters with a USCG-licensed captain are also available.
If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, Florida law requires you to complete a Florida-approved boating safety course before operating a rental boat. At Siesta Key Watersports, the course must be completed before arrival. Renters must also provide a valid photo ID and a credit card for the security deposit.
Boat rental prices vary based on vessel size and rental duration. At Siesta Key Watersports, our 12-passenger Hurricane FunDeck rents for $439 for 4 hours or $649 for 8 hours, plus a fuel charge. For guests who prefer not to drive, private charters with a USCG-licensed captain are available starting at $450.
The 1/3 rule is a boating safety guideline that recommends using one-third of your fuel to reach your destination, one-third to return, and keeping one-third in reserve for unexpected conditions, detours, or emergencies.
For many visitors, absolutely. Renting a boat gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, visit local sandbars, stop at waterfront restaurants, look for dolphins, and enjoy areas that aren’t accessible by car. It is one of the best ways to experience Siesta Key from the water and one of the best things to do in Siesta Key.

Florida law allows responsible alcohol consumption aboard a boat, but operating a vessel while impaired is illegal and can result in a BUI (Boating Under the Influence) charge. The same 0.08% blood alcohol limit that applies to driving a car also applies to operating a boat. If you’d rather leave the driving to someone else, Siesta Key Watersports offers private boat charters with USCG-licensed captains, as well as dolphin tours and sightseeing cruises aboard our 47-passenger catamaran. Select VIP tour packages include beer, wine, seltzers, and other beverages for guests 21 and older.

Florida boating laws include several distance and speed requirements designed to protect people, property, and wildlife. Boaters must operate at idle speed and produce no wake when required by posted signs and local regulations. It’s also important to understand the difference between a No Wake Zone and a Slow Speed Minimum Wake Zone. In a No Wake Zone, a vessel should be moving only fast enough to maintain steering and control without creating a wake. In a Slow Speed Minimum Wake Zone, boaters may proceed at a slightly higher speed but must still maintain full control and create only a minimal wake. Local waterways around Siesta Key and Sarasota also include manatee zones, idle-speed zones, and other restricted areas that must be observed.
A driver’s license alone does not satisfy Florida’s boating education requirements. If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you must also complete a Florida-approved boating safety course before operating a rental boat.
